You can’t ask a jazz singer to sing classical, can you?
Fictional writing is not my forte. Having written for online, television and print, I believe non-fiction writing is still my strength. Writing is definitely a craft and you have to decide whether you want to go in to fictional writing or non-fiction. While most argue that we can still do both, I do believe that it is important to carve your niche. That is why I have decided not change the theme and add Current Issues to Inspirational Personalities, Musings and Lifestyle. After a long thought, I have decided to niche myself in the areas I am already familiar with, rather than start from scratch with fictional writing. I always thought that fictional writing as fun, but non-fiction writing is fun to read as well.

Let me tell you a secret: I actually want to turn this blog into a socio-political blog not too long ago. However, there are so many Malaysian bloggers already doing that. Since I was working for a lifestyle morning talk show and now, a lifestyle magazine, I decided to keep it more lifestyle. I also had this mentality of Who am I to offer my opinions? I am not an expert. I am not an academician. I am not a politician. I am not an activist. But I AM A CITIZEN OF MALAYSIA and I am entitled to have a say. I might be wrong, but an opinion is subjective. EVERY ONE has the right to speak their mind and should do so in an intelligent manner.
When I read articles from my fellow authors, I believe that there are a lot to write about, especially on the area of social issues and current issues. For me it is an honor to be given the platform to write about Malaysia. I am not alone as Jude and Niki (also known as The Star’s The Bangsar Boy) are also contributors.
Personally, I am always interested in culture, the ‘indie’ scene (musicians, authors, artists, etc), youth development, education and so forth. After publishing my debut post there, I have GV readers visiting my blog and wanting to learn more about Malaysia. Initially I wanted the different platform to be totally separate from one another but after readings the blogs from fellow GV authors, syafiqueshuib.com can be an extension of the writings that I am doing for GV.
